Stevenson University’s Master of Science in Forensic Studies is designed for working adults who want to be forensic experts in a specialized field. These specialized fields can include forensic accounting, investigations, computer forensics, or other highly-sought after professions that are called upon to combat white-collar crime. Graduates from this master's program will be prepared to conduct investigations and examine evidence for the purpose of presenting their findings in legal proceedings as forensic experts. Students can select from six tracks of study based on their personal interests and career aspirations: Accounting Designed to prepare students to synthesize the accounting, auditing, computer, and investigative skills necessary to investigate and analyze financial evidence and ultimately communicate their findings in a courtroom setting. Computer Forensics Prepares students to identify, acquire, restore and analyze electronic data and ultimately testify as experts in court. Students will also learn how to assist in litigation support services in the areas of electronic evidence. Criminalistics Provides students with the training to evaluate results reached by criminalists and the ability to apply those results during a trial and other legal proceedings. Interdisciplinary This option enables students who are interested in multiple disciplines of Forensics Studies to integrate them into one degree. Investigations Students will learn how to conduct investigations with an emphasis on the gathering and reporting of testimonial and physical evidence. Students will develop the skills needed to interview witnesses, analyze documents, and synthesize the results into factually accurate and objective investigative reports and court testimony. Legal Students will acquire skills in legal research and writing, interviewing, investigating, criminal evidence and procedure, and courtroom presentation in the areas of fraud investigation, fraud prosecution and defense, and litigation support. Stevenson University’s Master of Science in Cyber Forensics is designed to provide an advanced education for experienced information technology professionals interested in the analysis of forensically collected and acquired digital evidence. This graduate program will train professionals to preserve, acquire, analyze, interpret, and document computer forensic findings for use in legal and computer security proceedings. With both on-campus and remote access to Stevenson’s highly specialized virtual lab environment, students are able to utilize state-of-the-art forensic technology to perform hands-on work related to advanced forensic analysis. Exercises based on real-life events such as thefts of electronic information, cyberattacks, and other cyber-crimes are used to educate students. Relevant technical and legal topics are covered to ensure students perform thorough incident responses, intrusion analyses, and presentation of findings. The Mock Intrusion and Response Capstone A distinction of Stevenson University’s forensics programs, the Mock Intrusion and Response Capstone provides students with real-life experience as forensic specialists.
